The delivery mechanism of this pump is similar to the Model R-E, with the difference being that the single speed synchronous motor is replaced by a digitally controlled stepper motor and microprocessor controller that permits both speed and infusion time settings. This pump also provides 10, 15, 20 RPM that are faster than the R99-E plus six other speeds. This has the built-in benefit of overdose safety protection (for addiction research in animals) in that the 28 V DC control system only initiates the drug delivery. The internal circuit limits the infusion time to the preset value. The speed selections for this unit are 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 3.33, 5.0, 10.0, 15.0, 20.0 RPM providing up to 63 infu-sion rates when used with seven syringe sizes ranging from 1 cc to 50 cc (see chart below). The infusion times are 0.1 to 99.9 sec-onds in 0.1 second increments. Thumb-wheel switches are used to set the infusion rate and time. This unit is connected to a 28 V DC output.

PHM-102 Triple Infusion PumpAlthough it was originally designed for home cage infusion of saline, this standalone pump may be used for any periodic infusion application. Permanently attached catheters have been found to remain patent for longer periods of time when given periodic infusions with saline in the home cage.

This unit will infuse up to three animals at the same time. A pair of two digit thumb-wheel switches are used to set a cycle time from 1 to 99 minutes and an infusion time from 1 to 99 seconds. A setting of 60 and 10 for example will produce a ten second infusion at one hour intervals. Other features include a flush push button, test mode, single injection mode, and indicator lights that identify cycle activation and infusion activation.
